DDQ's website counts page views so we can tell which pages are worth keeping. That is the whole of it. We do not advertise to you, build a profile of you, or sell anything about you.
What we collect
If you agree to it, or if you are outside the EU and UK, Google Analytics records that a page was viewed: which page, roughly where in the world the request came from, and which site sent you here if any. It sets one cookie so that several page views in a row count as one visitor rather than several.
We do not ask for your name or your email. There is no sign-up, no contact form, and no comments section. We have no way to work out who you are, and we do not try to.
What we do not do
- No advertising, and no advertising cookies.
- No profiles, no interest categories, no demographics, and no remarketing or advertising audiences. These are switched off for every visitor, and there is no setting that turns them on.
- No selling or sharing your information with anyone.
- No tracking you across other websites, and no fingerprinting your device.
How long it is kept
We keep no copy of our own. The data sits in Google Analytics on our behalf, set to expire after 2 months, the shortest period Google offers. The cookie that counts you as one visitor expires after 90 days.
Anonymous totals (how many people opened a page on a given day) are kept for longer, because Google stores them separately from anything about individual visits. Those totals cannot be traced back to a person.
Choices
Visitors in the EU, EEA, and UK are asked before anything is recorded, and nothing is set unless you say yes. Everywhere else, counting starts without asking, which the law permits for basic site measurement. You can block it with any ad blocker or by turning off cookies. The site works exactly the same either way; nothing here needs analytics to function.
Children
DDQ is meant to be playable by younger people, so this site is built on the assumption that a child may be reading it. That is why there is no advertising, no profiling, and nothing here that asks who you are. If you are a parent and would like us to delete anything associated with your child's visit, write to the address below and we will.
Asking us to delete something
Email jared.starkey@gmail.com and say what you would like removed. Because we do not collect anything that identifies you, it helps to include roughly when you visited. We handle these ourselves. Google provides the tooling, but the responsibility is ours.
Who runs this
The game
This page covers the website at ddq.quest only. The game itself runs at a separate address, has accounts and characters, and will have its own policy. Nothing described here applies to it.
Changes
If what the site collects ever changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top will tell you when.
